Civil Litigation
Having spent the previous eight years as a career law clerk to a federal judge in the Northern District of California, I have spent a great deal of time performing all of the research and writing necessary for the preparation and composition of the court’s orders and opinions in a broad array of civil litigation matters including dispositive motions seeking either dismissal or summary judgment, administrative appeals from federal agencies, discovery disputes, issues relating to extraordinary relief, and post-judgment matters.
Broad Legal Subject Matter Expertise
The areas of law involved ran the entire gamut that one might encounter in a busy federal court including intellectual property (patent, trademark, and copyright infringement cases), antitrust, product liability, civil rights cases, employment and labor disputes, class actions, prison litigation, suits involving the United States, suits against municipalities, suits involving Native American tribes, suits involving foreign parties, and suits involving state-law issues where the parties were from different states or countries.
Additional Civil Litigation Background
Additionally, before my time as a federal public defender attorney, I was associated with a boutique civil litigation firm that specialized in representing businesses in commercial disputes.
At the moment, in addition to my criminal and appellate practice, I am also currently associated with a mid-sized San Diego law firm that specializes in civil litigation in matters related to real property and construction law.
Ongoing Civil Litigation Representation
Given this background, I will also undertake representation of clients in a broad array of civil litigation matters.
